For us to provide you with the highest level of quality service, it is beyond helpful to receive all general requests in advance. We ask for at least one to three business days prior so that we can process and prepare your request but please note that the timeframe for submitting the request should be gauged by the type of request (i.e. materials, printing, space requests, onsite support, event coordination, etc). Please see the specific breakdowns below. If you do not see a break down of your specific request please feel free to submit and we'll get back to you.
Instructional Support orders supplies required for academic purposes. Frequently requested materials such as the following items are kept in stock. However you're encouraged to submit requests for typical items at least five days prior to a deadline:
a. Blue Books
e. Flip boards
g. Name Tags
h. Tent Cards
For large, unique or special orders, please submit your request at least ten days prior to a deadline. The extra time helps ensure the materials are in-stock, ordered and delivered often via a third-party such as Staples or Amazon.
Printing and Scanning
Instructional Support offers assistance with your printing and scanning needs. Generally we prefer to receive print requests three business days in advance of a deadline. Documents should be attached to your ticket as PDFs.
If the print request is large or a special order (e.g., multiple copies of a document that is more than 50 pages; color copies; or special orders that include bounded documents and unique paper/card stock), then we prefer to receive those requests at least seven business days in advance of the deadline. We may be required to work with the Columbia University Print Services office. Important Note: Fees are incurred when orders are submitted to the CU Print Services office. However we will obtain and forward estimates to the requester and Program Representative for review and approval before we submit the final order.
Space Requests & On-site support
Instructional Support will help identify space for academic purposes. An important caveat is that there is a limited amount of meeting and work space available throughout the School. All space requests should be placed at minimum 24 hours in advance but preferably up to three business days in advance. If you would like to have an Instructional Support representative assist you with on-site support for an event, we ask for three to five business days in advance. The advance notice helps us prioritize and provide excellent support to the SPS academic programs and administrative business units.
We greatly appreciate your flexibility and assistance as we research options:
a. Office Hours
b. Ad hoc meetings with students/ faculty /admin c. Program event/ Intensive / class
Our goal is to be able to support all SPS programs, faculty and administration. The advance notice helps us prioritize and provide excellent support to the SPS community while prioritizing our resources and staff.
Please note that we're always happy to help and completely understand that impromptu requests and emergencies happen so exceptions may have to be made. In light of those scenarios please do not hesitate to state that in your Zendesk request.
